Puppet mistress Amber Glych Greenlee is profiled in the latest episode of Transylvania Television’s BACKSTAGE PASS. Amber explains what it’s like being the only female puppeteer (at the moment!) on the show, and what goes on in Esmerelda’s mind. This is the first of the behind-the-scenes videos shot and edited by Todd Wardrope, a friend of the series and an experienced filmmaker in his own right.

There was some interest expressed in getting a better look at the new character on TVTV, the Queen Empress of Funk, Kim Ho Tep. Well here’s one of the only images in existence, a tasty two shot with her Halloween Special co-star The Vampire Le Shoc. It makes a smashing desktop background, by the way.

Media media media! Thanks to the persistence of cast member Amber Glych Greenlee (Esmerelda, Miss Mansfield), TVTV has been mentioned on web sensation “That Guy With The Glasses.” Find yet another great web interview with series creator Gordon Smuder here. Seems we will be doing a deal with theses folks and Channel Awesome to get our content on their site, so stay tuned for more. This will undoubtedly open up the show to thousands of new geek-a-zoids who follow “Glasses,” so welcome to those folks and get ready to laugh your asses off.

Series Creator Gordon Smuder Interviewed!

As part of our ongoing fundraiser through Kickstarter.com, producer-actor-creator-monster-maker Gordon “Dex” Smuder is interviewed at the Kickstarter Blog. He discusses how the show got started, what’s in store for the characters, and what audience members can look forward to in the TVTV True Meanin’ of Halloween Special in 2010.

“Being a fan of (here it comes!) Jim Henson, I couldn’t get it out of my head that he’d fought his entire career to bring puppetry into a place where it would be accepted as an adult entertainment form,” says Smuder. “Like animation has moved in the last decade or so, I wanted to produce something that would be strictly for grown-ups.”

We try not to blow our own horns too much (self-serving video blog about production not withstanding), but we can’t say enough good things about Fleece Animator Charles Hubbell. You know him as the Vampire Le Shoc on Transylvania Television, and may know that he is a Twin Cities actor with a great pedigree and high visibility (when he’s not behind a desk and under a puppet as he is with Le Shoc). And though we make fun, this is a legitimate example of why we love him and his work on the show.

Give the TVTV Halloween Special A Kickstart!

In 2010, TVTV will grow beyond our “webisode” format and produce a 60 minute Halloween Special! But making an hour of broadcast-quality television takes quite a bit more than a simple “webisode”.

We’re currently filming Web Season 3. After that we’re going to move ahead with shooting our perennial Halloween Special for grown ups! Think “Avenue Q meets The Great Pumpkin”! If all goes as planned, we’ll be able to broadcast the special via Twin Cities television this year and then push for a national release in 2011!

Your donation will help us tell the tale of Dwayne Frankenstein, Furry the party Yeti, and Irving Batfink as they dig deep into Castle LeShoc to discover the true meaning of Halloween and meet the somewhat morally ambiguous Pumpkin Prince! Each sponsorship level is rife with incentives, which you can read more about on kickstarter.com! We have chosen to raise $6,000, but the truth is the type of thing we do costs a LOT more. So aim high, shoot for that deadline which ends June 6th and let’s go past it if we can!

BACKSTAGE AS WE PREP SEASON THREE LAUNCH
